In 1996, during one of the biggest tropical storms ever to hit Rio de Janeiro, Ana and her firefighter team must evacuate a nursing home at risk of collapsing — but they soon discover the place’s mysterious residents have other plans with the arrival of the rain.

In the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, a group of bandits is dedicated to stealing the profitable cattle of local residents. But local gaucho police known as "The Wide Brim", due to the recognizable large-brimmed hat, will not allow the gang to go unpunished.

Four boys, Eduardo, Rui, Júlio and Carlos meet in bars to plot scams and tricks. Among them is Teresa, with whom Rui is in love, even knowing about her pregnancy. The boy does everything to know who the child's father is, but uselessly. Eduardo is a day employee and a car thief at night. Júlio and Carlos use marijuana and do not hesitate to use violent methods in their designs. One night they follow Edna (student and bride) to her house.
