In the late 1940's two young, idealistic American scientists made the extraordinary decision to settle down and work in a remote district of China. They were drawn by the promise as they saw it, of profound social revolution. Joan Hinton was a physicist, one of the few women to have worked on the Manhattan Project to develop the atomic bomb. Sid Engst was from Cornell University in up state New York, and a specialist in agriculture. This is a fascinating account of the lives these two Americans built for themselves in the very midst of China's most troubled times.

Xander, a charismatic but self-destructive popper addict, navigates the neon-drenched chaos of Palermo, Buenos Aires, with a crew of Grindr-found misfits: his on-again-off-again boyfriend, Dennis (a DJ with a penchant for chaos), Tano (a scheming ex-model turned crypto bro), and Vicente (a volatile bouncer with a hair-trigger temper). Their nights blur into mornings at clubs, chasing euphoria through popper-fueled hookups, synthwave beats, and glitter-coated escapism.

On May 17th. 1943 the Royal Air Force carried out one of the most remarkable bombing raids ever undertaken by a handful of skilled aircrew prepared to risk their lives attacking a seemingly impossible target.
