Professor James Murray begins work compiling words for the first edition of the Oxford English Dictionary in the mid 19th century, and receives over 10,000 entries from a patient at Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum, Dr. William Minor.

In 1935, a storm caused an English ship carrying coal to run aground in Bizkaia. Residents of Algorta gathered to rescue the coal, but Sabas Jauregui ignored their pleas and dragged his children into the storm.

Today, on the verge of his own retirement, Mario has to bring a motley crew of alternative partygoers to a psychedelic festival in Croatia. The journey soon turns into a fascinating trip that confronts Mario with his own prejudices and his long-lost son.
