In the remote deserts of Australia lives an elusive nocturnal bird called the Night Parrot. Virtually nothing is known of its ecology. It disappeared at the end of the 19th Century. Searching for evidence of its existence became a preoccupation. Night Parrot Stories was filmed in all the locations where Night Parrots once lived, during a time when stories of extinction were everywhere.

Only months after becoming a father for the first time, Jeremy is diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer on his heart. With a prognosis of less than 6 months to live, he urgently sets out to document for his children who he is, what he has achieved and what has given his life meaning. With his twins less than one year old, his motivation to survive is intense as he battles with hope and pragmatism in his final months. What matters most in life is crystallised as he faces everything he has to lose. As universal as death is, it is only when staring into its face, that the meaning of life becomes apparent.

This film is a melancholic portrait of the changes brought by the mine, and of the universal human desire for a better life. How do local people respond to the opportunities and economic divisions the mine creates? How do the local jobseekers and expatriate staff, attracted by gold and the possibilities it offers, understand one another? In case of difficulties, the mine calls in the military. Conflict over the mine's presence is escalating. The gold will be dug from the ground, but at what cost? End of the Rainbow reveals a world that is changing forever, and intimately portrays the people who are grappling to respond to those changes.
