Romek is a Polish railway worker and Guido is a German soldier. They are both 17, in love with jazz and the same pretty girl. But it's 1943 somewhere in German-occupied Poland, and their lives are bound to change soon.

Adam's Eight tells the remarkable true story of Karl Adam — a visionary rowing coach who, in 1950s Germany, brought together a group of underdogs and turned them into champions. Within just three years, his team defied all odds and won Olympic gold in Rome in 1960.

In southern Saxony-Anhalt, filmmaker Silvio meets Dieter and Norbert. Their villages, Grunau, Domsen, and Großgrimma, were abandoned in the late 1990s. Only they remained. Between 2003 and 2014, they are visited and interviewed regularly and talk about their lives in their ghost villages and their farewell, which is slowly but surely approaching.
