Zlarin is a small fishing village on the Dalmatian coast. Every inhabitant has to work hard, as the once-high coral prices have plummeted. Vukovich, who has led the fishing cooperative for many years, decides one day to pass this important position on to his son Marko. Although Marko is a flight officer through and through, he understands the importance of the post and is also concerned about the well-being of the inhabitants of his birthplace.

Deeply hurt, he wants to let her go. Only Gisela manages to bring them back together.

Heinz, for all his distractions in his work and the phantom lover he doesn't have, isn't quite ready to let Nora go. While he may be married to his work, his work is a fickle mistress: he makes a career error and this leads to near financial ruin. He begs Nora to be patient with him. Marianne, who for her part is in love with Heinz, spins a web of deceit and intrigue, which leads to Robert taking a potshot at Heinz and then eventually causing Robert to kill himself.

When a charming young man arrives to serve as a private secretary for the eccentric Helene Kiepergass a, he quickly becomes entangled in a series of mysterious events in her house. Amidst the arrival of a suspicious "nephew" from Mexico and a house full of peculiar guests, a romance blossoms between the secretary and the lovely companion Mary. He eventually is able to unmask two confidence tricksters amidst the residents.

When Maria falls and injures herself during a performance in Geneva, Daphne steps in for her. In the audience, she sees Bentley and Achim sitting together. She then realizes that only Achim, who truly loves her, deserves her love.

A famous composer has to prove his innocence when his wife, who has mysteriously disappeared, is shot dead in the street one day.

Eberhard gets into a brawl with Dr. Spindler not knowing that he just slapped his boss. To avoid the embarrassment Eberhard asks his friend Frank to substitute for him in the meeting with Dr. Spindler. Which accelerates the ensuing chaos.
