After unexpectedly inheriting an old house in a remote Rhodope village from her 103-year-old grandmother, whom she had never met, Daphne Bello, an American woman with Bulgarian roots, is about to give up everything to unravel the mysterious past of her long-deceased father, Georgi, in the hope that this will help her rediscover herself.

The trumpet player, Jonah, moves into the remains of his grandfather's house near where the treasure is hidden. In a tunnel under the house he finds a stone with a bird engraved on it and a map with an inscription in Arabic: "To have a house of gold, fall onto the sky and find the twin!" A copy of the same map brings Rumba and Emma to the same place. Rumba is Bulgarian and a passionate treasure-hunter. His wife is American and studies Bulgarian folklore as a way to fight globalization. Rumba wants to buy Jonah's property so he can find the treasure.

Three thematically related novels. The first is "Mother, father and me". The adults have hard time answering the kid's questions. Young Yulian sees that his parents are arguing. He cannot explain how his dad left the home, since his nightshirt and bed are there. The parents send Yulian to his grandpa at the village. The kid has a lot of fun, there are animals - pig, cock, turkey and he is playing all day. The grandpa dies. When Yulian goes home, he gets lost. Her mother accidentally meets him and embraces him crying. Second novel is "School". Three friends Yulian, Rumen and Hristo use small ceramic tiles for a game of marbles. Where to find them?

Three friends, Maro, Shpera and Yuri are unemployed and hardly make ends meet. They have complicated and hysterical relationships with the people closest to them. They seem to have emigrated from their families and their country. Provoked by a mysterious telephone call, they set out on a journey, filled with the hope to change their lives.

It is a story about a group of friends who live in a small seaport town. Their lifestyle is rigorous, their joys are simple and their sex life is raw. Their concepts of man's dignity, friendship and duty are wrong and primitive. The film helps us to understand and forgive them.

When a tired factory worker Christo Panov going home from work gets embroiled with a dispute with a bus driver, leading to threats of assault by the driver, that's bad enough. Then an irate passenger files charges against the driver. The father of newborn Ruth dies in a freak accident outside the maternity hospital. The young mother is left to live with her deceased husband's parents. Soon the mother-in-law leaves home, gripped by suspicions and jealousy. After her, the daughter-in-law also leaves. Grandfather and granddaughter remain. He is ill-tempered and gloomy, she is charming and innocent. A difficult combination to raise, educate and live with, so an attempt to place the child in a home follows, but unsuccessful. The grandfather takes her back, like a thief to his own granddaughter. They go to Vidin to look for the mother. She does not expect them and leaves on the ferry for Germany. The grandfather stays in town, finds work and lodgings, and communicates with the girl in a "manly" way. But just then a social worker arrives with a letter from Germany saying that the mother wants her child...
