Summer of 1939. Zosia is a young Polish girl who is deeply in love with Ukrainian Petro. Their great love will be put to the test when her father decides to marry her to a wealthy widower Skiba. Right after wedding she is left alone because her husband is drafted to the Polish army for the war with Germany. Meanwhile, tensions grow due to Jews, Poles, and Ukrainians living side by side.

In 1945, as Stalin sets his hands over Poland, famous painter Wladislaw Strzeminski refuses to compromise on his art with the doctrines of social realism. A big shot prosecutor Teodor Szacki divorces his wife and leaves Warsaw to “start a new life” in picturesque town in south­east Poland ­ Sandomierz. The film satirically portrays post-Communist Polish society through three generations of women, an ailing grandmother, her daughter Halina, and granddaughter “Little Metal Girl”, crammed into a shabby Warsaw flat, their lives peppered with absurd pop-culture quips, ad slogans, tabloids, and national stereotypes. Their cramped world is populated by quirky neighbors, a leaflet-dropping Bożena, an eccentric film director, two actors, a TV presenter, and Edyta, who crusades for the poor.

Lulek, a hit man, is released from prison and given an offer he can't refuse by the man who put him away. If he kills the chief of the Central Bureau of Investigations, he will earn a huge sum of money and have his record cleared so he can leave.

Director of detention, director Nowacki finds Sergeant Zawada, who is hiding from the world. An experienced officer returns to the game and gets a new task - he becomes the commander of the convoy, who is to transport a very dangerous prisoner to a psychiatric hospital. Members of his team are people with a complicated past. Among them is also Feliks, full of ideals, privately the husband of Nowacki's daughter, who should never have found himself in a prisoner. The prison director, having lost control of the convoy, chases to repair, and may hide the uncomfortable truth for him. The real purpose of the convoy is slowly coming to light. Conflicts arise between men and tension increases, with unexpected twists every minute. From now on, justice can be done on its own.

In communist Poland he was a simple electrician, then he led the downfall of communism in Poland, and consequently in other countries of Eastern Europe. Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize 1983, President of Poland from 1990 to 1995. The film tells the incredible story of Lech Wałęsa and his wife Danuta.
