Animated version of Robert Louis Stevenson's adventure in which a young Scottish boy is enslaved by his wicked uncle.

This 1970 animated special contains two versions of Washington Irving's most popular stories; The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - about the headless horseman (who makes a too brief appearance), and Rip Van Winkle - the man who fell asleep and awoke years later. It originally aired on TV between Halloween and Thanksgiving in the early 1970s and was later released on VHS home video by MGM in 1987 but it's currently out of print.

Animated Remake

The Emperor of Japan is scheduled to visit the small fishing village of Titipu for the annual cherry blossom festival. Unfortunately, during the ceremony the town tailor, Koko, winks at the pretty Kataisha, who is to be the wife of the Emperor's son Nanki Poo. Koko is promptly arrested and thrown in a dark, dank dungeon and sentenced to death for disrespecting the Emperor. Explorer Marco Polo is assigned to accompany two priests on a mission to China, to try to convert the "pagan" Kublai Khan to Christianity. However, on a dangerous trek through the mountains, the priests decide they don't believe that China even exists, and when Marco tries to argue the point, they abandon him and turn back. He eventually makes it through the mountains and into the fabled land of China, where he is received at the court of Kublai Khan as an envoy. Accompanied by his faithful servant Pedro, Marco spends 20 years in that country, and when he eventually returns to Europe what he brings with him changes the course of history forever.
