The year is 37 BC. A young Liburnian Volsus is taken by a Roman unit to help in what at first seems a simple task of collecting taxes, but the encounters with local Illyrian tribes soon lead to unexpected turns of events, as they show more resilience to subjugation than meets the eye. We see their archaic, emotional world of quaint and brutal laws and traditions through the eyes of this youngster, regarded by the Romans as a primitive barbarian, and gradually come to understand that their world is not all that different from our own.

Sardinia. A small village is shocked by the disappearance of a little girl and the suicide of Alice, a young woman found dead in the woods. There is a connection between the two cases, but no one knows yet. Sara, a successful writer and friend of the girl, decides to return to her childhood places to find out what happened. After a serious accident Giuseppe is out of work. His son Antò dreams of being an archaeologist and thinks his father's glass eye is a sign he has superpowers. Now they've lost their home, too, and have taken shelter in a tent city with other seasonal workers. Through all this, Giuseppe still summons up the strength to hug his son every night and tell him a story. He's promised Antò he will have his mother back, one day, and will do anything to keep his promise.

In 1990, one sixth of the population of Bhutan was exiled because they demanded greater democratic rights from the ruler. The film follows the story of Sarita, a 13-year-old girl born in Khudunabari, a refugee camp in Nepal where over 100,000 Bhutanese exiles live. Now they will be "relocated": thousands of families will be forced to emigrate and their Lotshampa identity will disappear forever. Sarita and her friends will not tell us their odyssey: they will dance and sing it.

The documentary tells a compelling and emotionally charged story that unfolds along the Tiber River starting in 1999, following the lives of two families of eel fishermen who have lived and worked for generations on an urban stretch of the river, near the Grande Raccordo Anulare ring road in southern Rome. On one side are Cesare and Alfredo, known as the “Rosci”, two brothers who embody the tradition and pride of a family that has always been linked to ancient river traditions. On the other side are their historic rivals, Nando and Franco, known as the “Ciccioni”, who live with their elderly mother, Sister Irene, a central figure who acts as the emotional and moral hub of the family. However, everything changes with the arrival of Anwar, a young migrant from Bangladesh, who is able to open up the millennial flow of the river to contact with new cultures.

Maciste, the first, the one who appeared in Pastrone's film, Cabiria (1916), leaves the screen, evoked by the critic and film historian Steve Della Casa. He wants to know who he is and what he did. Della Casa will help him find his other self, that Bartolomeo Pagano, a camallo (unloader) from the port of Genoa who saw his life transformed by the meeting with the director Pastrone.
