Catherine moves to a new city, and Nick Girard, a composer of film scores, catches her eye. They marry, but almost instantly something seems amiss. Nick had a previous wife named Stella, but she was killed two years earlier and her presence seems to still reside in the apartment. The neighbours in the building aren't exactly welcoming, either.
