André Courvalin, a merry bachelor, considers marrying, but not his exuberant mistress Aurélie. He would much rather wed sweet Suzanne. Trouble is that Suzanne is already engaged to Yves, one of his friends. But every problem has its solution. Accordingly, André finalizes a cynical stratagem. He sends Yves to negotiate his own breakup with Aurélie while he warns Aurélie's husband about Yves' presence by her side.All goes according to plan : Yves is mistakenly taken for Aurélie's husband.

Hungary, 1925. A young lieutenant of the Hungarian army Fröhlich falls in love with his captain's sister, Vilma Horn. While his superior agrees to the marriage, the girl's father has other plans, as the family estate is essentially bankrupt and can only be saved by Vilma's marriage to a rich American of Hungarian origin. So the father asks the young lieutenant to break off the engagement, which the young man dutifully does. But Vilma's brother has no idea about the state of affairs and challenges the young lieutenant to a duel for seemingly betraying his sister...

In 1923, André Sauvage produced his first film La Traversée du Grépon. Dedicated to mountaineering in the Mont Blanc massif, this documentary is a performance that earned him the recognition of his peers. André Sauvage and his companions decide to climb the Grépon, the best known of the Aiguilles de Chamonix, in the Mont Blanc Massif. Early in the morning, they cross the Mer de Glace, climb rocky peaks, abseil summits, cross crevasses, snowfields and long seracs. After sixteen hours of effort, the climbers return to the refuge. With his camera, Sauvage documents the difficult undertaking, also showing his strong passion for the mountains. "The deepest perception of mountains begins where intelligence ends." (A. Sauvage). Two long versions of the film have disappeared, one of 90 and the other of 51 minutes and only eight minutes are preserved.
