But he was never going to let that stop him from sitting still. In 2019 he became the first South African paraplegic athlete to complete an Ironman in under 7-hours and on the 13 December 2020 he will become the first paraplegic to ever swim from Robben Island to Eden on the Bay (Western Cape, South Africa).
