"Polikushka" was the only film directed by Aleksandr Sanin, one of Moscow Art Academic Theatre's founders, and is based on Lev Tolstoy's homonym short story. In spite the many differences between the literary oeuvre and its film adaptation it is a remarkable work that is outstanding for its depiction of the cruel realities of Russian society -the harsh life condition of its main character and his family in contrast to the wealth of his mistress;

The film tells the story of Judas and Satan wandering the world in search of a virgin who could become the mother of the new Evil.

Propaganda movie. Contrasting the cruel orders of the tsarist army with the conditions of service in the Red Army. Taras, a Red Army soldier, accidentally finds a bottle of moonshine. Being tempted, he gets drunk and falls asleep. In his dream Taras sees himself as a soldier of the tsar's army. Having left his post arbitrarily, he finds himself in the apartment of a frivolous girl and here he meets a general.

Based on the novel "South of the Slot" by J. London. The movie didn't survive.

The last of Starewicz's surviving Russian shorts

Based on the materials of the Rumyantsev Museum. Drama from the exposé series "Seeking God", dedicated to the sect of "runners". Continuation of the films "Whips" and "White Doves". The movie is preserved without credits.

Based on the fairy tale of the same name by Hans-Christian Andersen. Two fraudulent apprentices undertook to make a new dress for the king, which had a magical property - only a clever man, who rightfully occupied his post, could see it. The king and his cronies, afraid of being accused of ignorance, did not dare to admit that they could not see anything.

Criminal drama based on the materials of the sensational trial of the adventurous engineer Gilevich. The second series was released at the end of 1917. The 2nd and 4th parts have not survived.
