Robert and John Gregory were left orphans. Robert, a wealthy soul, found his health failing and the doctor advised him to seek the lower levels. John, drunk most of the time, agreed to accompany him. The senor, Estabon, lived with his pretty wife and sister in the little cabin in the valley. Alone in the woods he found Robert and John, Robert prone upon the ground from exhaustion and John, quite drunk, beside him. The Spaniard took them home and in the days that followed Robert's health returned, and he grew to love the Spanish girl.

Young Cal Jim had often called upon Betty but never found the courage to propose. His pal, Mark Halworthy did, however, and Betty accepted. He worked for days in his studio without ever speaking to her and the strain told on their relations for the wife brooded bitterly. Beulah, a dance-hall girl, has attracted the attention of Hurley, a brand blotter, but prefers Lee. Hurley entraps Lee and cuts his mouth open with a wide gash, which leaves a permanent scar. Lee vows vengeance and follows the man all over the country. He at last meets him face to face, but Hurley is saved by the intercession of Beulah. He later is killed in a fierce encounter. The brand blotters are discovered and punished by the aid of Immediate Lee, and Beulah receives the reward of loyalty and devotion by becoming Lee's wife.

Fred Rees proposes to Edith Shanlon, contingent on her mother's approval, which is initially denied due to the mother's desire for a wealthy match. A dream reveals the potential unhappiness of such a marriage when Edith's mother envisions Edith married to a wealthy man who neglects her. The dream, filled with infidelity and public humiliation, convinces the mother that a loveless, wealthy marriage is not worth it. Upon waking, she happily grants her consent to Fred and Edith's union.

In the forest, a wood nymph played a pipe of reeds. A faun and his mate emerged from their cavern home. He left his mate, drawn to the nymph's captivating music. The faun's mate, searching for him, heard the nymph's pipes and felt a pang of fear. Following the sound, she found them. Overwhelmed by jealousy and anger at the faun's infatuation, she snatched the pipes and hurled them into the stream, breaking the nymph's spell. The faun, realizing his folly, returned to his mate, and the nymph vanished into the woods.

Steven Brooks, a young man who finds himself entangled in a complicated situation involving his wife, Mrs. Steven Brooks, and another woman named Nell. The relationships and events that unfold ultimately test Steven's resolve and character, leading to a dramatic conclusion.

The messages get crossed and many comical misunderstandings results until all is happily resolved.

Jack is just a cowboy on the Gilman cattle ranch. Born and bred of the west, he is broad-mined and easy going. In direct contrast to him is Frances, a girl of the east, who comes to the west with Gilman's daughter. Frances has been born and brought up in wealth and culture and does not understand the cowboy who refuses to cater to her whim but who tries to dominate her. Later, when he proposes to her, she accepts him. She leaves for the east, promising to marry him when her course at school is finished. Jack sets about to build a cabin for their home. While at her home in the east, Frances is constantly being urged by Raymond Welton, a club man, to forget the rough cowboy, and to marry him.

Ida Price has been cheated out of her share in her father's estate by her cousin Charles. She puts the appeal of the case in the hands of Judge Clark and his assistant Robert Graham. Charles tries to compromise with Ida, but she stands firm. He resorts to attempting to get the judge tipsy and delay the verdict. He fails, the former decision is reversed with Ida receiving her fair share and incidentally a husband in Robert Graham.

After the Duke of Lorenzo discovers the Duchess with her lover, Count Riccardo the men duel leading the Duke’s 20-year banishment. During that time, the Duchess and their daughter go to America, where her daughter dies. The Duchess returns to Italy with a young companion, Anna De Voe, who is taken by all as her daughter. American artist Harold Dean sketching the villa’s grounds assists the Duchess when she has an accident that renders her an amnesiac. Meeting Anna the pair share an attraction, but the Duke who has returned from his exile and assumes Anna is his daughter, insists she must marry in honor of her ancestors. Anna, who is in love with Harold, reveals the truth and Harold is happy to find that no line of ancestry separates them.

Mojava Matt realizes that he is slipping away from God, when one Sunday morning he cannot even remember the Lord's prayer. He goes as far as "give us this day our daily bread," and stopped there in self-abasement. Packing his burro, he deserts his camp and starts back toward civilization, to find somebody who can tell him the next words.
