'Hedd Wyn' is a 1992 Welsh anti-war biopic. Ellis Humphrey Evans, a farmer's son and poet living at Trawsfynydd in the Meirionydd countryside of upland Wales, competes for the most coveted prize of all in Welsh Poetry - that of the chair of the National Eisteddfod, which in August 1917 was due to be held in Birkenhead (one of the rare occasions when it was held in England). After submitting his entry, under his bardic name "Hedd Wyn" ("Blessed Peace") Evans later departs from Meirionydd by train to join the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in Liverpool, despite his initial misgivings about the war. Ellis is sent to fight in the trenches of Flanders. 'Hedd Wyn' was the first Welsh-language film to be nominated for an Oscar.

Set against the wild, windswept backdrop of the Welsh coast, The Making of Maps charts Griff's journey into adolescence and his attempts to cope with the strife with in his own family. Pulled in different directions by his philandering father, reclusive mother and unloved sister, he tries to learn the secret that eats away at the fabric of his family life. His mother ran a dance academy, but during a picnic the school's star pupil, the beautiful, ethereal Alis, vanished. Afterward, Griff's mother took to her bed, fearful of leaving her darkened room. Griff's way of dealing with his life is to draw maps outlining his own attempts to comprehend a situation that everyone seems to want to forget. -Piers Handling

The history of empire. A British bulldog answers his mistress's call. He tacks down the Union Jack to cover the British Isles, then begins playing with a small ball that's the world. At first it's innocent play. The dog discovers tea in India; then, the dog shakes gold out of Africa. Gradually, innocence gives way to more and more ferocious play with the ball. We see terrorized women and children as the dog becomes an enslaving potentate. Harmless English archetypes benefit from colonial riches. Then the world begins to grow, and the dog changes too, from bulldog to effete lap dog.

A 1990 animated film in the adventure and fantasy genre, produced for S4C by a collaboration between S4C and Soyuzmultfilm. The film's plot unfolds in a magical world where a young king's son, Culhwch, sets out in search of the stolen fairy Olwen. The girl has been kidnapped by a sinister giant in black robes, and Culhwch must overcome numerous obstacles to rescue her. His journey is incredibly dangerous, as he encounters magical creatures and enchanted objects along the way. Gradually, the hero realises that not only physical strength but also kindness of heart, forgiveness, and intelligence can help overcome difficulties. Two versions were released, with notable differences (production and voice actors, line changes/insertions) between the two.
