Gabriel has fought his way out of crime and got his life back on track. But now that their father is dead, Gabriel feels he has a greater responsibility for his little brother, Alex. When Gabriel realizes that Alex has fallen into the wrong crowd, he does everything he can to get him out of that environment. His former mentor Kian (Roland Møller) tries to guide him in saving Alex in a loving and educational way. Despite his best intentions, Gabriel's violent reaction has disastrous consequences for the relationship between the two brothers.

Lika, Austro-Hungarian Empire, the year is 1918, the last year of WWI. In a wasteland rocky area, among ravines there is a small gendarmery police station with several gendarmes headed by sergeant Cokula. The area is controlled by a group of outlaws led by Todor nicknamed "The Terrible". Sergeant Cokula and Todor did not bother each other, until bandits robbed the emperor's inspector.

The documentary explores the outskirts of Palermo through the lens of photographer Francesco Faraci, whose work paints a portrait of the “out-of-focus cities”—areas that have long been marginalized, exploited, and rarely the recipients of adequate investment. This structural neglect has contributed to the entrenchment of conditions of decay, poverty, and a lack of opportunities, fostering the rise of power structures alternative to the state, foremost among them the mafia. Through the story of his own experiences in Sicily’s suburbs, the photographer reflects on possible strategies for regenerating these places, highlighting how they still represent spaces capable of preserving a human and relational authenticity that has progressively disappeared from urban centers.

The protagonist grapples with the void left by an important person, discovering that the pain does not fade away, but transforms into something she must learn to live with. Suspended between dream and reality, she feels the weight of an absence that, though invisible, is intense and palpable.
