Remembering the old Ljubljana tram and its history of the last 50 years through archival material brings up memories of Slovenia capital’s half century of development.

As the night falls, the two boys start talking about a woman who lives in the mountains and is supposed to steal children. Her name is Pehta. In the morning, Kekec, Rozle and Mojca go to an Alpine cottage and Kekec promises Mojca that he will find her a remedy for her eyes. As the girl is picking flowers, Pehta arrives and takes Mojca into her cottage. She wants to keep Mojca because of her singing.

The couple sets off for the mountain village where Vera's parents live, but find life in the harsh alpine conditions too difficult. They decide to move down into the valley, where they meet a discontented couple whose marriage has been marred by an affair. Vera and Dane also encounter difficulties in their relationship, but the tragic example of the other couple helps them realize that their home lies in the place of their birth - beneath the free skies in the mountains.

Sig has no passport or any clue about his identity, the skinheads have taken everything he owned. Guti is trying to build a new home for himself and introduces Sig to his friends, a group of suburban misfits, who remind Sig of a legend of the hidden people.

The author constantly depicts the duality of human nature: the same horror occurs in both the mythical and the real world. She illustrates all this with the use of electronic tricks that can, for example, petrify a human face or wall up a human being in just a few seconds. With an electronic trick, even human figures dressed in extravagant costumes return to nature: a man in a costume reminiscent of a bird turns into a real bird. At the same time, the scenes are shot from a bird's eye view, which, as always, emphasizes man's smallness and his loss in his own world and nature.

Two partisan miners are entrusted with the task of honor to transfer safely three orphan children from a dangerous zone of fighting to the safe liberated territory. In the beginning the two miners feel humiliated because they would like to engage in more important action, but later they become big friends with the children, especially with Peter, the youngest one.

A return to her remote hometown and confrontation with ancient local traditions will set Nadia, a successful Italian lawyer, on a journey to re-examine her identity and her estranged Slovenian family and the village community.
