Nils, Tayfun and Caro were best friends as children. When love came along later, the friendship fell apart. Nils became a policeman and unexpectedly meets Tayfun during a raid. Remembering their friendship, Nils makes Tayfun's drugs disappear and is caught. Nils is faced with the choice of either being suspended or going undercover to investigate Tayfun, who is now with the love of his life, Caro. A few weeks after palliative nurse Hans spends New year's eve completely with new acquaintance Simone, she finds herself pregnant, unplanned. While Hannes devotes himself further to terminal hospital patients, Simone lazily renovates the house, but somehow gets jealous of the neighbors and compromises everything.

I Had Nowhere To Go is based on Jonas Mekas’s diary. It’s been over 70 years since he left his village in Lithuania to escape Nazi persecution. He was 22 years old. Today he is one of the last surviving members of a displaced generation and one of the greatest documenters of the human experience.
