Surrounded by wealth, an impecunious young lady leaves home and the suave man of her dreams to spread her wings in Athens. But, he refuses to give up on her. Will she ever know that love awaits at the villa with the four marble stairs?

Four stories, humorous, romantic or dramatic, are linked by a counterfeit gold sovereign. It is made by the honest engraver in the first story, seduced by the charms of a young widow, and it subsequently passes into the hands of a beggar and a prostitute, a wealthy miser and a newly married couple where the husband is a poor artist.

Returning to Athens after the end of the World War II, Captain Nikolas finds out what happened to his family from a neighbor.

Philip (Giorgos Constantinou), a shy and dignified accountant and English teacher, lives with his mother (Zoli Garbi) and his two siblings in the same house. His younger brother (Alekos Tzanetakos) remains unemployed and lazy rather out of conscience, while his older brother, Kimon (Orpheus Zachos), dreams of being re-elected prefect and refuses, although a qualified accountant, to work, considering the positions demeaning and irrelevant offered to him. His tragic financial situation will be further burdened by their imminent forced move to another house. It is also the first color Greek film, edited entirely in Greece. It is based on the play "The 6th American Fleet" by Alek Sakellarios and Christos Giannakopoulos, who also wrote the screenplay, while Sakellarios directed the film.

Joe, and Gardelis his friend, plan to rob a safe, a Russian émigré, Lavrentis Shack. By opening, however, the safe, -propylcarbamoyl ekplixeos- see, they have stolen all the valuable items, apart from the will of the princess, which defines as heir, poor niece Shack, Nadia maid. Joe will go through a lot: You get into and out of prison, will fall victim to extortion by gangs, ultimately, though, he'll discover the real thief of the safe, which will make the Nadia maid to love ...

Loukis, after a successful break-in, manages to escape the police chase thanks to a younf flower seller named Krinoula who introduces herself as "Little Mouse". He will take her with him in his hideout where he lives with Vangelis, Hristina and their gang leader Costas. Loukis wants to live an honest life and so he rents a room with the Little Mouse and tries to astart over. Costas though is not yet ready to see his criminal gang disband...

During World War II, a lieutenant of the Royal Navy, Aris Galanos, arrives in Italian-occupied Rhodes on a secret mission. He takes the place of the Italian officer Giovanni Retsini and, as captain Giovanni, now helps the residents of the island as much as possible. At the same time, he also falls in love with Anna Roditi, a member of the Resistance. He travels back and forth to the Middle East carrying secret plans for the defense of the Dodecanese. The revelation of Aris' activity also leads to Anna's arrest, who is about to be court-martial-led. The capitulation of Italy, however, averts such an unpleasant development. With the end of the war and the unification of the Dodecanese islands with Greece, Aris returns to Rhodes to live there forever with his beloved Anna Roditi.

Angelos, a law student in Athens, is expecting Lavrentis, his rich uncle from the village, hoping that with his money, his luck will change. His uncle though is very sick and the doctors suggest rest and calmness. Youyou, Angelos' girlfriend though suggests otherwise in order to push the rich uncle closer to his death. And so, Angelos, with two friends from his village, Damian and Sarantis start partying with Lavrentis whose health starts getting better and better. In the meantime Angelos meets Myrto, falls madly in love with her and decide to finish his studies and marry her.

The sudden heritage, which is announced to two mercantiles, infuses their minds and begins to live richly, forgetting their previous lives.

Ms. Byzantiou is a passionate writer who stays at the hotel “Paradise” together with other eccentric tenants. When the friend of a hotel boy, who is planning to marry a young tenant, arrives at the same time with a couple of newlyweds, Ms. Byzantiou is inspired to write about a dramatic love affair.

Two friends from the province dream of going to Athens. On board the train, however, two smugglers are being asked and offered to hire them as waiters in the nightclub as a showcase.

A veteran general, living poorly but honestly with his wife and his daughter, is visited by his future son-in-law who informs him that he is going to immigrate to Australia. The small loustrakos Vasilis Maras alongside the school of fine on the streets of Athens to make money. The mother finds injustice in prison for the murder of Demetrias. With the persistence of the king, however, and the help of a lawyer, the Karelia, the mother of leaving prison.

Isaiah and Anargyros are partners and keep together a wedding bureaux office. Things are not going well lately, and Isaiah's wife, Kallirroi, is in charge of helping the situation. She finds a bridegroom for her daughter, a wealthy family. But the groom is not as rich as he is in fact the son of the groom. The situation is getting even more confused since her daughter is not the daughter of a shipowner as he presented her!

Tassos is a kiosk owner who is in love with Foula. He has a constant fear of vehicles speeding past his kiosk. His friend Vangelis wants to help him overcome his fear. A series of strange events, misunderstandings, and unrequited love will lead to the marriage of Tasos and Foula.

Miranda, the rich and spoiled daughter of an Athenian businessman, accompanies her father to Messolonghi, where they have their own fish farming facilities in the best parts of the lagoon. There, while the local fishermen try to establish a cooperative so they can defend themselves against exploitation by their bosses, Miranda seduces a charming and dynamic young man, disrupting his life and his relationship with the girl he loved and intended to marry.
