Samantha has lived her whole life in different foster homes. "the promise" is a stereoscopic 3D film about two men travelling together, the romantic connection they share, and the sacrifices made to achieve personal fulfillment. Set in an open field, the two men dance, jumping from reality to dream, as they follow a path, a metaphor for structure in their pursuits, giving meaning to their struggles.
