Determined to leave the ravages of war behind, 38 year old Gian Singh resigns from the British Indian Army to a quiet life. His world is soon thrown in turmoil, when he suddenly finds himself responsible for the life of a 17 year old girl, traumatized by the events that separated her from her family.

A pair of teen friends – known as "Chicken & Curry" because they are virtually inseparable – fail their high school finals and try to cover it by claiming that Curry is in the midst of an identity crisis that can only be solved by a visit to his ancestral homeland, India. While the ruse works wonderfully on their parents, this impromptu journey of self-discovery takes an unexpected detour when Curry locates his biological sister and remains captivated by the country he first despised, and Chicken falls for an older doctor working for Médecins Sans Frontières.

When he's called in to investigate the murder of a former art student (Pooja Kanwal), Nilesh Bhargav (Rajit Kapoor) turns to the woman's paintings to see if they might hold clues to her killer's identity. Was it (Aham Sharma) the boyfriend she abandoned years ago and whom the police suspect? Or was there another with the motive, means and opportunity to do her in? Rajesh Ganguly directs this entertaining whodunit.

This film examines two East-meets-West marriages shifting between the 1850s and 2000s. In 2005, a Gujarati student falls in love with a British woman. In flashback, a king married to an Englishwoman tries his best to blend multiple cultures.
