This film could easily be a true story taken from contemporary Denmark. It is a typical Tuesday morning: stormy weather, slush, and bitter cold. Two young women are cycling to work. They make an unpleasant discovery: they find a dead man on a bench in the park.

During the filming of a movie in Køge, Lise accidentally knocks down the director, Dan Burling. When the film crew leaves Køge, Dan invites Lise to come to the city. When Lise shows up in Copenhagen, she thinks she has been offered a role in a movie, while Dan was hoping to find a new housekeeper. Lise becomes Dan's housekeeper, and soon her love for him grows. He, on the other hand, only has eyes for himself. While completing his film dream, Dan saves script girl Irma from burning to death in the editing room. Meanwhile, Lise has decided to leave Copenhagen.

Due to his gambling addiction, farmer Hans Sværke has brought his farm to the brink of bankruptcy, thereby opening up the opportunity for the wealthy landowner Karius to achieve his goal of taking over the farm. However, parish bailiff Mikkelsen vouches for Sværke and saves him for the time being, and Sværke then leases the farm. Sværke dies, and his talented son Niels takes over the lease. He and the farmer's daughter, Grethe, are happy together, and Niels manages to get her hired at the farm. But Karius' daughter, who is in love with Niels, burns with jealousy and persuades her father to take advantage of Niels' difficult financial situation and take over the farm. Things look bleak for Niels, who has been cornered by the wealthy landowner. But one day while plowing, he sees something glinting in the soil...

The picnic baskets are overflowing, and the alcoholic beverages have certainly not been forgotten as the staff sets off for Bakken in a rented bus. Beer and spirits are consumed in abundance. As the booze flows, inhibitions are cast aside. In the increasingly boisterous atmosphere, one employee after another passes out. And the bus? Well, it can be hard to find in the booze haze! The fun never ends, and neither does the laughter.

With the parish council chairman at the helm and the minister cutting the ribbon to make it official, everything should be in perfect order. However, the county governor is absent, as he has a financial dispute with the ferrymen, brothers Søren and Peter Severinsen.

Taking place on a small villa road: The two neighbors Gormsen and Sandelund have been at a dispute for years and this evolves into an all out war. Sandelund is a wholesale dealer in meet, a capitalist and has one of this modem houses with a flat roof. Gormsen is a dentist, and a communist, he has a new wife that are younger then his son, and lives in one of these old-fashioned half-timbered houses. A third factor is the merchant Krause. To begin with he is a small time grocer and progresses into the end, a big time businessman. He is a deeply religious man, a good Christian, and member of the parochial church council. There children, (teenagers) find their conflict silly and stupid.
