Silverio Palacios, 40, a failed union worker from Veracruz, decides to turn his life around. Tired of earning his money panhandling in the streets, he decides to follow up on a plan that’s been on his friend and union leader's, Alacrán, mind for the longest time. He transforms his old taxi into a makeshift raft and set sail towards Miami to find success in the United States posing as a Cuban immigrant.

Margarita is a woman who lives in the streets of Mexico City, a character who moves between lucidity and madness.

In times of zero tolerance for undocumented migration and Donald Trump tries to build higher walls to stop it, a series of deportees who intend to cross back to the United States survive by forming a community a few meters from the border fence.

The Sonidero movement echoes throughout the streets of Mexico City with waves of tropical rhythms, neon lights and dance moves. Two brave and touching characters, La Cigarrita and El Duende fight to keep this tradition alive, opposing the government’s initiative to gentrify their neighborhoods. During the festivities that celebrate la Virgen de la Merced (The Virgin of Mercy) -one of the city’s most popular events- sonideros face a wall of anti-riot police.
