The corpse of a young man shows up at the shores of Atalante marking the return of Isidore to the territory of the living. But coming back from the dead is a delicate affair. As he follows the traces of his past lives in search of lost memories and the promise of a story, Isidore finds himself caught in a deceitful web of narratives within narratives, a world of Time Travelers and Doppelgängers, Picture Eaters and Textile Merchants, Phantom Friends and Phantom Lovers.

The passenger regularly consults the name written on his ticket. He wants to make sure he is not traveling in somebody else's place. The scenery remains unchanged. The same chain of islets, the same shores, the same mountains of the mainland. It appears that the ship is drifting around in circles.
