A documentary about Patrick Troughton's years as Doctor Who presented by Jon Pertwee. This also contains the following surviving episodes from the incomplete stories "The Abominable Snowmen" episode 2, "The Enemy of the World" episode 3 and "The Space Pirates" episode 2. It also includes excerpts from "The Web of Fear", "The Three Doctors", "The Five Doctors" and the "Two Doctors".

A study of the author intersperses readings from "Interview with the Vampire" with her comments on growing up in New Orleans; her mother ("the finest storyteller I have ever known"); living in San Francisco during the 1960s; and the death of her daughter. Included: talks with her husband and sisters.

There are no missing Pertwee episodes, so instead, using a similar format with interviews and clips, Jon Pertwee introduces full episodes from his favourite stories - "Inferno" (episode 7), "The Frontier in Space" (final episode) and Pertwee's personal favourite, the final episode of "The Daemons".

The Second Doctor has been partially regenerated by the Time Lords as punishment for breaking the non-interference policy, but the process is stopped halfway, leaving the Doctor an amalgam of his second and as-of-yet future incarnation...
