After the death of their brilliant but emotionally distant mother, two estranged siblings inherit her final invention: an AI built from her consciousness. Hoping for comfort, they activate the system and bring her back digitally, but the technology meant to reunite them begins to exploit their deepest fears and unresolved trauma. To save what remains of their family, they must face the illusion of eternal love before it becomes a permanent prison.

A 10-year-old boy and his mom spend a day working on his grandfather’s apricot farm. As a first-generation Mexican-American, his mom insists he embrace the family tradition and learn the value of hard work. Eager to prove himself, the boy quickly becomes discouraged when he sees how much faster everyone else is working. He scrambles to keep up, trying different ways to speed up the process. But as frustration builds, he learns that asking for help can be its own kind of strength — and finds an unexpected connection with his grandfather.

In a bustling Los Angeles strip mall parking lot, Mandy is a well-to-do arrival in a gentrifying neighborhood. She brushes off locals, including the woman panhandling outside the laundromat, Lena. But when a dryer eats the last of her quarters, Mandy goes through literal head changes for fifty cents. Blinded by her own biases, she repeatedly dismisses Lena, who keeps approaching her with a soda cup full of change.

After her grandmother passes away, a grieving Mexican-American woman becomes fascinated with learning what it feels like to die, believing it will allow her to feel close to her grandma in death in a way she never felt in life.
