Vikings attack Kuksja's village, and end up bringing him along on their ship because they believe he is good luck. After proving himself in a battle against the dreaded Danes, chief Torir bestows upon him the name of Einar and takes him in as his son. Back home in Norway the men are received as heros, but new trouble arises when Kuksja falls in love with the beautiful Signy, who is already betroth to the vicious Sigurd.

While her mama is at the hospital to give birth, and her dad has gone off with a mistress, Maja has to survive by herself and her grandma, thanks to her Indian costume and her second Indian identity as Maja Stoneface.

A young boy named Pelle falls in love with the drug addict Lena. Then he and his friend Proffen try to save her from drugs.

Like Pippi, and all other children, she wants to be big and strong, with the power and opportunity to make the world the way she wants it to be. Fia has a difficult role as a kind of "mother" to her mother, a mother who is unable to cope with everyday life. But in the yard opposite lives the magician Bustric, and he becomes Fia's anchor in life. Bustric is a little grown up, but very much a child, and he saves Fia from being seen as a liar and a dreamer in the new class she has to start in.

Doing it, or not doing it, that is the question for leading man Tommy. His long time girlfriend Maria is ready to take the leap from fumbling touches to the real thing, but Tommy, who works part time as an altar boy, believes sex belongs within the sanctitude of marriage.

Two university researchers claim the existence of serious police brutality in Bergen, Norway, in the early 1980s. The film follows the public reactions to these allegations, the victimization of the researchers and the legal persecution of their informants.
