Inspired to a true story, on November 5th 1991, Rita Atria a young 17-year-old Sicilian girl, goes to see an anti-Mafia judge Paolo Borsellino to denounce the Mafia system that was responsible for the murder of her father and her brother. Anna runs a farm in Sardinia. At night she lets go in sensual dances in the village bar and indulges in short-lived adventures. Until one day, the construction of a mega-resort on her land forces her to engage in the biggest battle of her life.

Salvo and Lea travel in the night in a refrigerator truck. Theirs is a mysterious destination as well as the cargo they carry. That journey becomes an opportunity to discuss their abruptly interrupted relationship. Suspended between a past that made them happy and a present that oscillates between resentment and a desire for love, Salvo and Lea travel on a night that seems to have no end.

The film is an investigation that punctually reconstructs the story of the boss of bosses Bernardo Provenzano: from his rise to the top of the dome to the end of his very long fugitive life. An intense and painful road movie among disturbing testimonies, trial depositions, statements by judges, lawyers and investigators, punctuated by chase scenes reconstructed with the pace of a thriller. The Cosa Nostra chief's 40-year fugitance comes to an end on April 11, 2006, when Provenzano is arrested in a cottage near Corleone.
