La Machina (ES)

In 1989, José Luis and Luz María, a young couple living in Galicia who have just had a daughter, get divorced. José Luis films the entire separation process with his camera. In 2019, their daughter Paula, who has been living in France with her girlfriend Joy for ten years, separates. Paula, like her father, has been recording their love story and its end all this time. This documentary uses intimate archive footage to initiate a dialogue between two separations thirty years apart and attempts to answer the question: What remains when love ends?

A celestial angel crashes down upon Montejaque, a small village in Málaga, to save humanity from the destruction of its world. But the villagers, led by five retired women, mistake him for Death itself and fight not to be taken away by him.

Every March 10, the waters rise turbulently in the Ferrol estuary. On that same day in 1972, the police opened fire and shot Ferrol trade unionists Amador Rey and Daniel Niebla, who died as a result of their injuries. In the days that followed, life in the city came to a standstill, and the stories of what had happened were submerged in silence.
