A lost film. Esmeralda, a simple farm girl is in love with country boy David, but her mother yearns for a high society city life. Ore is discovered on their farm and the money rolls in. The family is packed up and moved to the big city where Esmeralda is forced into an engagement with a wealthy Count. Suddenly the ore is depleted and a fresh supply is discovered on David's farm. Much to the delight of Esmeralda, her impending marriage to the Count is off and her mother happily consents to a marriage between Esmeralda and David.

Charm and Valor fall in love and are married. Jealousy, however, is angry at their happiness and decides to ruin their marriage, so she arranges for Charm to find an old photograph of her husband's former sweetheart Forgotten. Valor is also led to mistrust Charm, and the two return to their respective parents: his, Finance and Display, and hers, Commerce and Pride. While Charm spends her days with Sorrow, Treachery endeavors to ruin Valor by luring him to a disreputable roadhouse, and when Valor's father tries to bring him home, the young man strikes his father with a bottle. The two sets of parents are in the midst of a financial battle when Charm gives birth to a child, Happiness. The child reunites the couple, and Madame Jealousy, along with her servants Mischief, Treachery and Rumor, finally are banished.

What neither she nor Frank know is that her father has actually been doing the same thing Frank is--pretending to be a Mason when he actually isn't. Complications ensue.

A young girl who lives in the slums of London, is in love with a thief. She persuades him to give up his life of crime. Meanwhile, an eccentric millionaire, who has been diagnosed with an incurable dementia, becomes so despondent, he decides to commit suicide. He disguises himself as a vagrant, and wanders into the slums. As he tries to find the courage to kill himself, he is encountered by the young girl. She rationalizes him out of the cowardly act. Her genuine sweetness and strong faith, effects him to such an extent, he begins to believe a recovery is possible. Now the girl's sweetheart has been falsely accused of murder and only the millionaire's licentious nephew can give him an alibi.
