The last days of summer, Nahia and Laura, 25, drive along the roads of Navarra. They are both about to fulfill their teenage dreams, even though it may lead them down different paths.

Antón, aged 72, lives alone when he is diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He decides not to tell his daughter Ana, who lives abroad, while he takes refuge from the passing of time by turning his memories into paintings.

Different ages, situations and languages converge seemingly at random on the same mat: one person practices prenatal exercises, another takes contortion lessons, and another prays with disciplined devotion. Gradually, through drawings, glances, flowers and somersaults, gestures and connections begin to emerge, hinting at a bond between them. Around the mat, a slow process of bodily self-deformation unfolds, where destruction and creation become indistinguishable, and care and pain intertwine.

We retrace the path that was used by the women who walked up to the penitentiary of Fort San Cristóbal to help political prisoners between 1934 and 1945, as Spain went through Republic, Civil War, and Franco’s dictatorship. We search for their footprints, listen to their voices. The earth remembers.
