Documentary about the poet Miguel Ramón Utrera.

Ignacio is known as El Iluminado de la Esmeralda (The Enlightened One of the Emerald) for his healing powers. Urged by the eviction of the house where he lives, he decides to charge for his services with an illusionist. What he ends up with is being mistreated and taken advantage of by others, even ending up in jail. After regaining his freedom, he goes mad.

Migrants from the countryside and unemployed people from neighbouring cities take over some unused land and establish a neighbourhood in the industrial zone of Maracay. The event coincides with a presidential election campaign, which motivates political demonstrations in that town.

Trade union leader Manuel Taborda, a pioneer of workers' organisations in the oil industry, recounts his experiences and those of his colleagues from 1920 to 1936, with an emphasis on the struggles against foreign companies and the government.
