Despite the war, school life continues in Ukraine, with pupils and teachers striving to continue learning even under constant threat. The film is a mosaic of the everyday lives of teachers and students from different corners of Ukraine.

Two young paramedic women, Cuba and Alaska, live on the edge in the war-torn Kharkiv region. Their mission is to save lives while sharing good humor, and belief in victory.

Based on diaries and photographs found in the houses destroyed during the Russian war against Ukraine, the film captures the stories of Mariupol, including that of the director’s family. It centers on the value of freedom and human life itself over the nonsensical statements repeated by totalitarian regimes, as witnessed throughout the history of the Azovstal plant.

Men on the streets get chased by stares. Someone’s walking a chihuahua, someone’s out jogging, but everyone’s uneasy glances are fixed at Petro and Andriy — recruitment officers inspecting military documents, holiday or not. When the officers encounter the freelance IT guy, Sashko, the young man has two requests before he’s taken away: that they stop by the store so he can buy food for his cat, and that he is allowed to bless his Easter bread.

Surrounded by Carpathian mountains and with new unexpected acquaintances in their lives, each deals with a family trauma and tries to overcome an unresolved grief—the boy’s father, a Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier, went missing in the frontline.

Six women — Iryna, Liudmyla, Halyna, Tetiana, Olha, and Mefodiivna—share stories of the traumatic experiences of sexual violence and torture they went through during Russian aggression in Ukraine from 2014 to 2023. Each woman is a survivor who shares her story in this psychological portrait, creating a unique document of the crime committed, inspired by a desire to preserve the memory of truth and justice.
