Under the scorching heat of the Belgian Ardennes, Lola returns to the family home after a year away. She reunites with her younger sister, Camille, who has been taking care of their mother, Anne, suffering from Alzheimer’s. During this afternoon, tension builds between the sisters as Anne wanders off into the woods, while a violent wildfire spreads through the region.

At the "Veeweyde" shelter, bonds between humans and animals are broken and formed every day. In this arena, the shelter's team members must deal with the humans they meet, determine the reasons for abandonments, and analyze the desire for adoption in order to provide the best possible future for the animals they take in. In the end, isn't their job to analyze our relationship with our pets? And wouldn't these relationships be a reflection of the way we connect with others?
