A British widower in the 1880s Pacific Northwest hires a Native American governess, educated in a Christian mission school, to teach his two daughters. While preparing the eldest for an arranged marriage, a force within her begins to awaken, threatening everything she has been taught.

Three siblings craft a knight-like figure, only to unleash a barrage of arrows upon it. Through the seasons, we observe their lives as they both construct and demolish their lifelike creation.

This will follow the life of a family which, at the turn of the 19th century, transforms its house into a raft and goes looking for a new place to live.
