It revolves around the story of a self respecting young man who wins a wager with his wealthy father. The film was produced under Bhagavathi Productions. It had a very successful soundtrack composed by Upendra Kumar.

Bettada Huli is a 1965 Kannada-language action drama film, directed and written by A. V. Sheshagiri Rao. The film was dubbed in Tamil in 1968 as Kolaikaaran Magan.

This was also the first Kannada colour movie which was based on a novel.

It is based on the novel of same name by T. R. Subba Rao. The director remade the film in Telugu in 1968 as Chuttarikaalu.
