Emilia experiences her childhood through her senses. Until now, her body has been a vehicle for pleasure and curiosity. With the onset of puberty, she grows her first facial hair, and with it come concerns about her appearance. Suddenly, her body is filled with nothing but pain and shame.

In the community of San Pablito Pahuatlán or 'Nvité', the mountain awakens every dawn, and with her, also the spirits of nature that with all their magical gifts inspire artisans to create beautiful works of amate paper pieces that will bring salvation.

Clarissa sets out to find her best friend, determined to ask for the last favor she’ll ever request.
