A local inspector and a French police officer investigate a body found floating in the Scheldt.

Thibaut, 40, raises his 7-year-old son, Gabriel, whom he adopted in Africa, alone. Faced with the crisis his son is going through, he decides to return with him to Senegal in search of the biological mother, Yawa, whom he once knew. But it's another broken bond that resurfaces during this journey and will lead Thibaut to mend his past love life and build a new family.
