Lil and Roz are two lifelong friends, having grown up together as neighbors in an idyllic beach town. As adults, their sons have developed a friendship as strong as that which binds their mothers. Soon, Paul and Jacques get close and they start to see each other secretly.

When Huguette, a 78-year-old former school principal, ends up homeless because she did not pay her rent, her neighbor Marion offers her a deal: a roof in exchange of her help to prevent the teenager she is raising alone, Rémi, from failing school.

When Agathe moves to Paris, she discovers city life, liberty, and love. But the city's picture-perfect scenery and the dreamy soundtrack of the young woman's days and nights contrast with the cold detachment of its inhabitants.
