Tombs weaves together the triangular story points of three Oklahoma sisters and their mother who travel to Los Angeles as a part of a relocation program in the 1950s that gave Native Americans the opportunity to become “civilized” by getting jobs in urban centres. When they arrive, they begin to understand that like many east-to-west dreams, the reality is not the new beginning they sought. Abandoned by government policy and in acute poverty, they begin to search for their own, finding home in “the tombs” – the cemented riverways of LA. It is here a young mother is killed, and the lives of her children separate down three very different paths that emerge in 1970s Los Angeles – weaving together one telling, one flood.

This unique narrative incorporating documentary elements follows Rey, a 40-year-old non-binary teacher and typhoon survivor, on a roadtrip to fame. With surreal comedy and social portrait realism, filmmaker Seán‌ Devlin explores climate change, LGBTQ+ issues, and the impact of colonialism on contemporary Philippines.

Follows an unlikely trio: a young German shepherd dog called Lenny, who failed the K9 test not because of his wheels but due to his stubborn attitude, and joins the circus. He is joined by an Indian Runner Duck with autism, Fred, who creates beats with his beak, and the brown bear with Down Syndrome, Bearnice, who loves nothing more than dancing for the big crowd at the circus. They must defy the odds to save the mysterious circus panther, Shadowclaw, in the heart of New York City. Together, they must turn their differences into strengths, overcome their fears, and save the panther before the official K9 team captures her and puts her away forever. Slated for 2028.
