Five days before the massacre at Oradour-sur-Glane, Philippe Gerbier, an officer in the Free French Forces, is parachuted in near the village. He is to lead a mission for the Resistance in preparation for the D-Day landings. There, he is reunited with Marie, his childhood sweetheart.
