Later, the daughter of the cloak manufacturer marries an admirer and Sam is invited to the wedding. He drinks and disgraces himself, and returning home, is turned out by the heartbroken rabbi. He leaves, telling the old man that he will return when the father celebrated the Christian Christmas.

Two brothers live together in the Kentucky mountains. Wally, the younger, is a wood-cutter, while Phil is a cripple. The brothers receive word from a city physician that Phil can recover from his infirmity only by means of an operation which will cost $800. In the meantime, Nan Leslie, of the U.S. Revenue Service, is detailed to go into the mountain districts of Kentucky and get evidence against a gang of moonshiners.

A dramatic one-act film that takes place in Mexico. Juanita, who lives on a dilapidated ranch, has to marry a wealthy landowner, but changes her mind at the last moment when a young American comes along; he offers her money to travel through her country. She falls in love with him. When the Mexican finds out about this, he tries to kill both of them, but a friend comes to the rescue.

Bhadon, an aged chemist, actuated by the decree of Buddha that in America the secret of making artificial diamonds would be discovered, gives his life to the cause and succeeds. Elated at his titanic success. Bhadon sends his trusted Hindoo servant to the high priest in India, pleading that Shedah might be spared to assist in disposing of the product. Shedah, the powerful emissary for the cause, is dispatched with her two bodyguards to American soil, where, through her wiles and marvelous beauty, she is enabled to effect sale after sale to the wealthy. This monstrous flooding of the American market with gems of astonishing brilliancy and value alarms, to a marked degree, the Kimberly interests, who controlled this outlet.

Wandering minstrel Louis d’Angelo must flee his homeland to America after a duel over the hand of his beloved, Delicia. Finding hardship and deceit at first, he eventually also finds success. Because another suitor, Colonel Navarro, has been intercepting his letters Delicia fears Louis has forsaken her and journeys to America to discover the truth followed by her parents and Navarro. By chance all gather at the same restaurant and the lovers are reunited.

Discouraged and disheartened with her uncompromising poverty and the narrow prospects for improving the bleak conditions, she goes away with another. It was hard to leave the little tot and the husband vainly straggling against the relentless tide of invincible circumstance. In the lonesome night the child prays for the mother-woman, and across the dreary waste of desert life she hears the call, and heeds. The telepathic tie that binds the child's mind to her own transmits the wistful message, and the mother-heart conquers. The nebulous shadow of night and blight departs; the withered hope buds and blooms anew, and she takes the narrow path back to those to whom her life is consecrated.

A factory owner receives notice that his facility will be inspected for safety and compliance with fire codes the following day. Knowing his factory is not up to code, the owner attempts to bribe the inspector, who is engaged to the owner’s daughter Pauline. When the inspector refuses to be bribed the owner takes drastic action.

The young doctor, spending most of his time in charity work, is particularly interested in the case of a poor mother who must send her child away for its health. This brings him into contact with the owner of the tenement and he endeavors to persuade him to improve conditions. He is refused. But, the owner's daughter has overheard this refusal and she determined to investigate the trouble herself.

The story concerns the reformation of a fast woman who runs a gambling establishment. Her one fear is of death and her regeneration is brought about.

A doctor moves to the city, and stops writing to his sweetheart back home. She decides to go to the city to find him.

Peeved and piqued, she sat in fretful mood before the fireplace. Perhaps in the fleeting flames she saw the lights and sights of the ballroom. She chided herself for having married a man who was wedded to his professional duties. Of course, she admitted to herself, the hospital required her husband's duties. The brilliance of the ballroom beckoned with boisterous invitation to her yielding thoughts. She put the baby girl to sleep, and went to the ball alone. The lights were bright, the people were merry and she was happy. But at home a great record was writing itself on the walls, writing mother's negligence in writhing flames. The fire in the hearth, left to its own mischievous irresponsibility, had set the house ablaze.

The film illustrates the oppression of Irish peasants under early English rule, highlighting trials and "accidental" deaths.

The Animal, a man of great strength and brutal impulses, becomes human when he reunites a mother and her lost child.
