The lives of four characters collide during a tragic robbery at a tobacco shop. Alberto is the owner of the tobacco shop. The night before the robbery, his wife, Marta, discovers that he has cheated on her. He tries to convince her to stay, but she leaves. Laura is the shop assistant and Alberto’s lover. She believes she can finally be with him, but the conversation she has been waiting for is interrupted by the robbery. Javier is a customer at the tobacco shop who owes money to a dealer. He tries to win it in a poker game the night before the robbery. Diego lives with his seriously ill father. Their financial situation forces Diego to rob the tobacco shop.

Rurka goes into the night forest by following Geraldine, a mysterious presence. Driven by curiosity and the dreamy surroundings he finds himself consumed by the nature that engulfs him.

In the solitude of winter, Leon enters for the last time the inhospitable house where he grew up.

After a "dream" about a guardian of the forest, Samuel, a 25-year-old boy unmotivated by adulthood, recalls the story he experienced as a child: One day, he found a small gnome village in the middle of the forest. He always went to play there to try to spot some creature, until one of the times he returned, he found it destroyed. He salvaged a few remaining pieces, and his mother stored them in a trunk in the basement. That morning, after so many years, he decided to go down to the basement in search of the trunk. With it under his arm, he set off on a hike back into the forest to see the ruins of the village, hoping to find at least some sign of a creature living there. When he gave up on everything, he found a door in the trunk of an old tree. Behind it, the rebuilt village appeared, and the lights began to turn on.

Winter, 1995. Bernat turns eighteen, and family tradition pushes him to sacrifice a lamb with his father; refusing to do so will be his first act of rebellion against his greatest fear.

It's a metaphor between the traditional hunting system in Catalonia and the financial system that trapped citizens in Spain during one of that country's worst financial crises.
