On the edge of the Gobi desert in Northwest China, Lang returns to his hometown after being released from jail. While working for the local dog patrol team to clear the town of stray dogs before the Olympic Games, he strikes up an unlikely connection with a black dog. These two lonely souls embark on a journey together.

Liu Yonggan, a food delivery guy nicknamed the “Bolt of Shapingba,” gathers thirty buddies to form a ragtag underdog football team called the “Dock Workers” and compete at the Eternal Bowl championship.

In 1942, a Japanese cargo ship "Lisbon Maru" loaded with more than 1,800 British POWs was torpedoed and sunk by a U.S. submarine in the waters near Zhoushan Islands. Nearby fishermen from the East Pole risked their lives to rescue more than 300 British soldiers and protected and rescued three Britons during a massive search by the Japanese.

In the early spring of 2021, a man and a woman flew to Hong Kong at the same time, and while waiting to enter the mainland, they stayed in the same hotel, separated by a wall.
