Mangal, an elephant calf captured from the wild, is forced into circus life, logging work, and eventually becoming a temple elephant. Through Mangal’s journey, the film explores themes of captivity, animal rights and the psyche of confined elephants.

In the early 1970’s, 23 year old Amanda Feilding, Countess of Wemyss and March, drilled a hole in her head — that is she trepanned herself. Now 74, Amanda is a leader of the renaissance in scientific psychedelic research.
