Taiti, 1903. Doctor, poet and artist Victor Segalen left France and headed for Hiva-Oa, to meet Gauguin personally. On his arrival on the island, he learns the painter had passed away. Rurutu is a community where traditions forge ties between the inhabitants. In Avera since the beginning of the 20th century, the 'umuai is the biggest festival of the year, when collective weddings that sometimes bring together up to 17 couples, are celebrated together.
