At the heart of the sea bed, between rocks and corals, primitive algae undulate, lulled by the muffled and roaring sound of the currents. Up there, on the surface of the water, something extraordinary has just appeared: a voice. So soft and seductive that it is unlike anything we have ever heard before.

Riccardo Corradini, a final-year medical student from Italy, makes headlines as the first international student to ever choose the Gaza Strip as destination for his Erasmus exchange program. While studying to become a war surgeon, he experiences first-hand the day-to-day life in the Strip (including Israeli bombings), makes life-long friends, and overcomes his anxiety about the future.

Carmen comes from a difficult past: taken away from her mother during adolescence, she grew up in a foster home. Massimo is an only child, raised in a wealthy and oppressive family. But there, instead of being welcomed, they were locked-up in a camp. This is where Sarah’s journey begins...

Licu is born in Bangladesh and he's a 27 years old muslim living in Rome, in a rented house with eigth other people. He works in a warehouse in the morning and in a deli shop at night: 12 hours a day. One day he receives a photo from his family of the spouse they choose for him, so he must take four weeks of unpaid holidays to get back in Bangladesh and set up his marriage with a girl he doesn't know. But in his country things are about to get complicated.
