Sonja meet Curt in a taxi cab. By mistake, each believes that the other is a rich member of the upper class. They meet on a date, but since neither wants to reveal the truth about themselves, they both get more and more caught in the web of lies they have produced.

Short comedy about an author named Viktor Mattson (Nils Poppe) whose publisher tells him that his latest book is bad. To make money, Mattson becomes a door salesman for the publisher and goes to Nyköping to sell books. After a few ifs and buts, Mattson meets Ingrid Bergsjö (Britta Brunius) whom he falls in love with.

About the Swedish trickster and thief Lars "Lasse-Maja" Molin. He often disguised himself and lived as a woman in 1800s. He takes place as a kitchen boy for a bailiff and manages to prevent him from taking over the cottage where his beloved lives. His true identity will, however, be disclosed and he is forced to become an outlaw.

Marilyn Jordan, an American, lives in Stockholm with her Swedish husband and family. Her behavior is bizarre, perhaps mad: she poisons the dog's milk and advises the dog not to drink it; she sets the sheets afire as her husband sleeps; she crawls under the dining table to sing. While detained at airport customs for carrying pruning shears, she meets a young Yugoslav woman and goes with her to a Gypsy enclave where she's fought over, takes a lover, helps with the sordid entertainment at a bar, and returns home more dangerous than before. The film also tells parallel stories of Marilyn's daughter becoming a junior homemaker as the young immigrant practices her striptease.

Munthe has become a rich farmer through his own work and has gained some influence in the local community. He is strongly opposed to the immigration of east European farm labour from Galicia who, he claims, makes life difficult for the locals. She is partly a revue primadonna and gramophone singer, but the nameplate on her door also reads "Lessons in French and Grace", which of the film's act to judge apparently means that she is partly a luxury prostitute and partly takes care of country girls to give them some posture of polish.
