Vildhundarna is a drama far away from the Swedish reality. It's about four young people on the outermost, with norms dispersed, the only survivors in a nameless city, in a nameless country. Vildhundarna could take place in the former Yugoslavia, or why not Warszawa in 1944 or Rwanda...?

The spoiled Marianne has switched cocktail parties to flight lessons.

It is in a battlefield in Karelia, Finland during the Continuation war (1941-1944). Intensive shooting between Finnish and Soviet troops takes place. The Soviet occupation is strong, and on the Finnish side it is ordered to withdraw. But Captain Viktor Aaltonen does not listen to the order but wants to shorten a wounded companion's suffering. Aaltonen is taken to the Soviet prison camp, Vorkuta, where he will spend a decade.

Butcher Charles Svensson (Thor Modéen) bets on the horses and wins the jackpot. He finds high society is not immediately appreciative of the newly rich.

Karl and Ada are engaged, Gustaf is a sailor and in love with Elsa. For her sake he's willing to stay ashore.

Julia works as a cashier at a piano factory in Stockholm. She and a couple friend go on a ski vacation to northern Sweden, while her boss at the piano factory notices there a money missing in cash register. He suspects Julia who have to prove her innocence.

Privates 91 and 87 are ordered to carry a tube of explosive chemicals to a military depot, while prize fighter Ingemar Johansson tries to teach them how to throw a punch.

In his travels he meets and falls in love with Liss, a liberated small town woman, but they both have trouble considering a long-term commitment which will curtail their treasured freedom. After separating, Claus heads north and joins a surveying team, where he finds himself attracted to a country girl. Will the big city boy settle down in the rugged wilds of the Northlands, or will he return to the south and negotiate a commitment to Liss.

The waitress Monica goes to Västerköping to find out who actually was her father. By aunt Margareta, she has been told that her mother, who died at birth, had four admirers.

About a love triangle between the soldiers 32 Svensson and 58 Jönsson and the girl Blenda. Both men ends up in jail, for different reasons. Further adventures and incidents occur.
